1938 one was a founding member of the Primeira Divisão , the first official championship in league mode in Portugal , due to the qualification over the regional tournaments. Nonetheless, Casa Pia ended the season in last place, after just one win (2-1 home win against FC Barreirense ) and 13 defeats. Since then, the club has never qualified for the first division again, which is reflected in the Primeira Liga all-time table, where Casa Pia is last.

Stadion
From 1920 to 1924 the club played its games in the Campo das Laranjeiras . In 1940 the stadium was expropriated from the club by the Estado Novo . Because on the property on which the stadium stood, the Exposição do Mundo Português (Eng .: Exhibition of the Portuguese World) was to take place some time later . Over the next 14 years, the club changed stadiums a few times until the Estádio Pina Manique opened on August 29, 1954 with games against FC Porto , Vitória Setúbal , Benfica Lisbon , Belenenses Lisbon and Atlético CP .
