The Clube de Futebol União , or CF União for short and known in German-speaking countries as União Madeira , is a football club from Funchal , the capital of the Portuguese island of Madeira . It was founded on November 1st, 1913 and is one of the oldest football clubs in Portugal. In the seasons 1989-1992 and 1993-1995, the club played in the Primeira Divisão . After relegation since 2011, he has been back in the Segunda League . In the 2014/15 season, with second place behind CD Tondela , the promotion to the highest Portuguese league, the Primeira Liga, was achieved . After only a year, however, the decline followed again.

The club played its home games on Campo do Adelino Rodrigues until its promotion to the Primeira Divisão . Since the 2015/16 season, the club has played its home games at the Estadio Centro Desportivo da Madeira in Ribeira Brava (Madeira) .
