Sporting Clube Farense is a Portuguese football club based in Faro . It is one of the oldest and most traditional clubs in the Algarve . The club colors are black and white.
history
The club was founded on April 1, 1910 as the second branch club of Sporting Lisbon . The club played in high leagues for many years. During the years 1970–1976, 1983–1985, 1986–1989 and 1990–2002 one took part in the game operation of the top national league, the Primeira Liga .
The greatest success in the club's history is the 1990 participation in the final of the national cup competition, the Taça de Portugal , which they lost to CF Estrela Amadora . In the 1994/95 season you could qualify as fifth for the 1995/96 UEFA Cup , but retired in the 1995/1996 season after two 0-1 defeats in the first round against Olympique Lyon . Currently (as of the 2018/19 season) the club plays in the second-class Segunda League .
