The CD da Cova da Piedade is a Portuguese sports club from the municipality of Cova da Piedade in the Almada district , opposite the capital Lisbon . The club is best known for its football department, but also operates a futsal and swimming department and is active with social and cultural projects in the community of Cova da Piedade.
history
The club was founded on January 28, 1947 as a merger of the União Piedense Futebol Clube (founded in 1914) and the Sporting Clube Piedense.
In his first season he won the championship of III. Divisão , the then fourth division. After the following promotion and relegation, the club repeated this success in 1970/71.
The club celebrated its greatest success so far in the 2015/16 season when it celebrated promotion to the Segunda Liga , the second-highest division in Portuguese football .

The club plays its home games in the Estádio Municipal José Martins Vieira, which has a capacity of 3,500 .
The stadium is municipal owned and was built in 2005.
