Season course

In the ÖFB women's league, the women from Neulengbach defended their title from the previous season and won the double with the cup . The other top teams USC Landhaus and Union Kleinmünchen came in behind . The team of the promoted team from Gloggnitz held up surprisingly well with eighth place in the table. Surprisingly, at the end of the season, the board of fourth-placed Innsbruck AC announced the withdrawal from the top division. No reasons were officially announced for this.

The game was played in the same way as the men's Bundesliga with ten teams. The champions qualified for the UEFA Women's Cup , the bottom of the table was relegated to the second division, and the ninth-placed club had to fight to stay in the ÖFB women's league in a relegation match against the champions of the 2nd division center. Due to the voluntary exit of the Innsbruck women, FC Südburgenland automatically remained in the first division, while the last-placed and allegedly relegated from ASV St. Margarethen / Lavanttal was allowed to compete in the relegation, but lost both games against the LASK Ladies from Linz. In the second relegation game, the women of 1. DFC Leoben prevailed against their competitors from SV Horn .
