The FC Südburgenland is a women's football club based in Oberwart in Burgenland , which was founded of 2002.

Club history

FC Südburgenland was formed in 2002 from the women's section of SC Pinkafeld . The club colors are blue and white. After the official separation from the men's section of SC Pinkafeld, the women's section went its own way as FC Südburgenland under chairwoman Christine Koch, which was very successful right from the start. In the first year of the game, he won the championship title in the 2nd Division South. With Susanna Koch, Jasmin Pelzmann, Kerstin Weber and Carmen Marth, four players from back then are still active today. As champions of the 2nd Division East 2002/03, the team rose to the top division in Austrian women's football. In the first year in the ÖFB Women's Bundesliga , FC Südburgenland made 4th place. In the following years, FC Südburgenland played more in the bottom third of the table and finished 8, 9 and 7. From the 2007/08 season, the championship was in an upper and lower playoff decided. FC Südburgenland narrowly missed the upper playoff three times. Places 3, 2 and 1 in the lower playoff meant more successful games in the spring. FC Südburgenland caused a sensation with their 1-0 (1-0) victory over series champions Neulengbach in autumn 2009 - the last defeat of the Lower Austrians so far. The biggest defeat in the top division to date is 1:12 against Neulengbach in spring 2005.
From the 2004/05 game year, a second team (1b) was added to the "A" team 2011/12 2nd women's league east / south) plays. In the very first season the 1b came in 2nd place. In the 2008/09 season, the 1b again reached the runner-up title of the 2nd League South. In the 2010/11 season, the team awarded a possible championship title in a direct duel with a 2-0 draw in Parndorf in the last game of the season and ended up in third place.

In the ÖFB Women's Cup , the team from southern Burgenland played their way into the final in 2004 , where they lost 12-0 against SV Neulengbach . In 2009 and 2011 respectively, the team reached the semi-finals, with Neulengbach twice meaning the end for the southern Burgenland women. In 2010, the Burgenland Football Club's women's cup, FC Südburgenland won the title with a 5-0 win in the final against FC Winden.

FC Südburgenland has already been nominated three times as Team of the Year in the Burgenland Sportsman of the Year poll (2004, 2009, 2010) and was voted Team of the Year in 2010. In addition, on September 3, 2011, FC Südburgenland received the Bruno 2011 as Austria's best women's football team for the 2010/11 season.

The captain of the Bundesliga team is Susanna Koch , who is also the youngest coach with an A license in Austria.

FC Südburgenland has played in the ÖFB Women's Bundesliga since 2003 . The South Burgenland women's team started in the 2nd Division East in the 2002/03 season.

Current season

At the start of the season with a new coach and new players, there was a 4-1 win in Kleinmünchen. Then you had to admit defeat to fellow favorites Spratzern at home with 0: 1 and Innsbruck (2: 5) away. In the fourth round, FC Südburgenland achieved their second win of the season with a 3-1 win over LUV Graz. This was followed by three more wins in a row (5-0 in Ardagger, 3-0 against Landhaus , 4-2 at Bergheim / Hof). Then there was a 2-6 defeat in Neulengbach . In the last game of the autumn season, FC Südburgenland won 1-0 at home against St. Veit Kärnten, which means third place in the autumn season.
