The Austrian women's soccer championship was held for the 40th time in 2011/12 after the 35-year break between 1938 and 1972. The top division is the ÖFB women's league and was held for the 7th time. The second highest division ( 2nd league ), this season's 33rd edition, was divided into two regional leagues, with the 2nd league middle / west for the 3rd time and the newly created 2nd league east / south, consisting of the clubs consists of the 2nd league east and the 2nd league south. The season lasted from mid-August to mid-June.

Austrian soccer champion was SV Neulengbach for the 10th time in a row . The champions of the second highest division were the second women's selection from FC Wacker Innsbruck (center / west) and SKV Altenmarkt (east / south). Since the Heeres SV Wals , second in the 2nd division middle / west, did not start SKV Altenmarkt was entitled to play in the ÖFB women's league in the 2012/13 season .

In the 2011/12 season, as in previous years, ten clubs competed against each other in a total of 18 rounds. Each team played once at home and away against every other team.

Season course

In the ÖFB women's league, the women from Neulengbach were Austrian champions for the 10th time in a row. The club won the Austrian championship with 49 points and a goal difference of plus 86 in front of ASV Spratzern . The USG Ardagger / Neustadtl team ended up in last place and has to be relegated to the 2nd division. The second climber of the last season, ASV Spratzern, was sensationally second. In addition to the championship, Neulengbach won the ÖFB Ladies Cup of the 2011/12 season 4-0 against FC Wacker Innsbruck .

    Second performance level - 2nd division

    The 2nd league represents the second highest performance group in Austrian women's football. In order to reduce the costs for the clubs, it is divided into two regional groups: 2nd league middle / west and 2nd league east / south.

    The second performance level consisted of two leagues, separated by region:

    • 2. League Middle / West with the clubs from Upper Austria ( OFV ), Salzburg ( SFV ), Tyrol ( TFV ) and Vorarlberg ( VFV ) and
    • 2. League East / South with the clubs from Burgenland ( BFV ), Carinthia ( KFV ), Lower Austria ( NÖFV ), Styria ( StFV ) and Vienna ( WFV ).

    Playing in the 2nd league in the 2011/12 season, a total of 17 teams played for promotion to the ÖFB women's league, five second teams from clubs were not eligible for promotion.

    The general mode stipulates that each team competed against each other in the respective league. The champions of the two leagues played in a relegation for promotion to the ÖFB Women's Bundesliga. The bottom of the table in each league was relegated.

    2nd division middle / west

    The league consisted of ten clubs that played against each other twice in two rounds (autumn and spring). After these 18 rounds, the champions of the league had to compete against the champions of the 2nd league east / south in the relegation. The last placed team, however, was relegated to the respective national league.

    Season course

    The 2nd division middle / west began on August 21, 2011 and ended on July 3, 2012 with the 18th round. The opening game was the match between FC Lustenau and ASKÖ Dionysen / Traun . FC Wacker Innsbruck II won the championship, but Heeres SV Wals qualified for the relegation , as no amateur team is allowed to advance to the ÖFB women's league.

    The league consisted of ten clubs that played against each other twice in two rounds (autumn and spring). After these 18 rounds, the champions of the league had to compete against the champions of the 2nd league east / south in the relegation. The last placed team, however, was relegated to the respective national league.

    Season course

    The 2nd league east began on August 6, 2011 and ended on June 2, 2012 with the 22nd round. The opening game was the match between the SG 1. DFC Leoben / GAK and SV Neulengbach II . The champions were SKV Altenmarkt , which qualified for the relegation. Since the USG Ardagger / Neustadtl was relegated from the ÖFB women's league to the state league, ASK Baumgarten remained in the 2nd league east / south.

    Heeres SV Wals and SKV Altenmarkt would be qualified for the relegation . But no relegation was played, because Heeres SV Wals did not play and so SKV Altenmarkt plays the 2012/2013 season in the ÖFB women's league.

    Landesliga Mitte-Region

    There was a relegation tournament for promotion to the 2nd division middle / west for the 2012/13 season , in which the champions from Carinthia, Upper Austria and Styria competed against each other in three games. The first-placed team moves up to the 2nd division middle / west, the others stay in the respective national league. The table of the mini-tournament gave the following result.
