Sophocles Sophocleous
Sophocles Sophocleous (born August 7, 1962 in Pano Lefkara ) is a Cypriot politician of the Kinima Sosialdimokraton party .
Sophocleous graduated from the Law Faculty of Aristotle University in Thessaloniki . From 1992 to 2006 he was mayor of his home parish, he was also deputy chairman of the network of city and regional partnerships. From 2000 to 2012 he was deputy chairman of EDEK. In 2006 he was appointed Cypriot Minister of Justice and Public Order, which he held until President Tassos Papadopoulos was voted out of office in 2008. In 2012 he moved to the European Parliament for the resigned Kyriakos Mavronikolas , where he is currently Deputy Chairman of the Subcommittee on Security and Defense.
