The women's Vorarlberg League ( also women's Vorarlberg League , or FVL for short ) is the highest football league in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg and the third highest division in women's football . It is limited exclusively to clubs of the Vorarlberg Football Association (VFV).

In the early 1990s, the Vorarlberg Football Association began to organize a women's national championship in Vorarlberg. Together with the Tyrolean Football Association, the association installed the Regionalliga West, or RLW for short , for clubs from the two associations from the 1994/95 season . In the 1993/94 season RW Rankweil and FC Schwarzach qualified and rose to this new league for, at that time still, women's football.

In 1995 and 1996 there were no promoters to the Regionalliga West for women. For the 1997/98 season, the Regionalliga West was expanded to six clubs and six clubs from Vorarlberg, Schwarz-Weiß Bregenz , FC Egg , FC Dornbirn 1913 , FC St. Gallenkirch and FC Mäder , are likely to rise. In the following season only the FC Schruns rose, as the Regionalliga West was reduced to four Verene. In 1999/2000 the Regionalliga comprised nine clubs, as five Vorarlberg clubs FC Alberschwende , New Energy 95 Dornbirn , FC Fussach , FC Götzis and FC Lingenau joined .

With the new division of the 2nd women's league into four regions in the 1999/2000 season, the Vorarlberg League was incorporated into the Austrian league system as the 3rd division in 1999. In the period up to 2005, only the promoted to the Regionalliga West are known. FC Koblach and FC Mellau played in the Regionalliga West in the 2001/02 season, and SC Austria Lustenau in the following season. The football club from a Dornbirn district, Bremenmahd, played in the regional league in 2003/04. After 2005 there was no promoted from Vorarlberg, three clubs increased the Regionalliga West in the 2005/06 season.

From 2005 the highest women's league was renamed the Vorarlberg regional league. In the 2006/07 season there were no promoters from Vorarlberg, so it is not possible to say exactly who was champion in Vorarlberg in 2005/06. FC Lustenau rose to the Regionalliga West in 2007/08. In 2008 FC Nüziders and in 2009 FC Lustenau became Vorarlberg champions.

Since 2009, FC Alberschwende has won the championship four times, FFC Vorderland twice and FC Lustenau, SC Röthis, FC Rot-Weiß Rankweil and Dornbirner SV once each.
Name (sponsor)
The Vorarlberg Women's League currently has no sponsor in its name. In the course of its existence, the regional league has always been called the Frauen Vorarlberg League.
Game mode
The league consists of six teams, with each club playing two home and two away games against each other. A season therefore comprises a total of 20 game days. The first in the table after the end of the season is eligible for relegation to the second-class 2nd division with the champions from Upper Austria, Salzburg and Tyrol.
