The SC Ortmann is an Austrian football club from Neusiedl in Pernitz in Lower Austria .

founding

In 1920, an unofficial association called the "Club of Employees" was founded. A meadow on the current site of the SCA Ortmann paper mill served as the venue. In 1921 the club was founded under the name "Sportklub Ortmann".

history

Beginning until the 1930s

In 1936 and 1937, SC Ortmann became a master in the trade union association. Since there was no higher division in this association, the club switched to the Austrian Football Association. Due to the association change had to start in the lowest division. In the very first game year 1937/38, promotion to the district class was achieved. And the championship title was also won in the next 1938/39 season. Thus Ortmann was allowed to play in the top division of Lower Austria. It was the second highest division after the Gauliga at that time . Due to the outbreak of the Second World War , the championship was not played in 1939/40.

1940s

When Ortmann resumed championship operations in the game year 1946/47, the club was divided into 1st class south. Ortmann was able to play regularly at the top of the table. The promotion to the next higher division, the 2nd League South, came in 1949/50.

The "golden" 1950s

As early as the 1951/52 season, promotion to the Lower Austrian regional league was achieved. The championship title was also won the next year. And thus the direct march through to the State League B completed. The championship year 1953/54 ended the club in 9th position. Due to a reorganization of the groups, the last-placed clubs had to relegate. Among them was SC Ortmann, but only because of the worse goal difference.

Back in the Lower Austrian regional league in 1954/55 it was only enough for 2nd place. In the 1955/56 season the championship title was won again. However, two qualifying games had to be played against the champions of the Vienna League, 1. Schwechater SC, but they were lost (total score 4: 7). In 1957/58 the club was again champion and this time it was enough for promotion to the State League B. There, 8th place was reached in the 1958/59 season. In 1959 the State League B was closed and the clubs were divided into the newly founded regional leagues. Ortmann therefore had to compete in the Regionalliga Ost in 1959/60 . In the very first season the club reached the 2nd place in the table and thus only just missed promotion to the state league, the top division in Austria.

Another great success was celebrated by winning the Lower Austrian Football Cup in 1951. The final game was won 2-1 against Baden AC .

Highs and lows in the 1960s

The second year in the Regionalliga Ost ended with 11th place. In 1961/62, with rank 4, the promotion to the top division was only just missed. On the SC Wacker Wien , the first in the table, 4 points were missing in the final statement.

In the following year, the club had to relegate to the Lower Austria regional league. The direct resurgence was missed in the next year with the 4th final place. 1964/65 Ortmann had to relegate as the last placed in the lower league South / Southeast. It was not until the 1967/68 season that the club was able to return to the national league by winning the championship title.

2nd NÖ Cup victory in the 70s

The team played in the Lower Austrian State League until the 1974/75 season. From the 1975/76 season onwards, the South / Southeast sub-league was played. In the 1979/80 season, SC Ortmann, as bottom of the table, also had to relegate from this league.

In 1972 the Lower Austrian Cup was won for the second time. The final was played back and forth. Hainburg was defeated with a total score of 7: 4 (5: 0 and 2: 4).

The lower classes 1980s

After relegation from the lower league South / Southeast in 1980, Ortmann played in the 1st class South. After relatively unsuccessful years, the championship title was won in the 1987/88 season and promotion to the sub-league South / Southeast was completed.

Slow recovery in the 1990s

Already in the 1990/91 game year the championship title in the sub-league South / Southeast could be won. From the 1991/92 season, the club played in the Oberliga Ost. After the successful 1992/93 season, which the club finished in 2nd place in the table, promotion to the 2nd regional league east was achieved. Right in the first season, 1993/94, the second place was reached, which entitled to relegation games. The first qualifying round was won against Herzogenburg, but the second was lost to Brunn. So Ortmann had to stay in the 2. Landesliga Ost. In 1999/2000 the club became champions in the 2nd regional league east and after a break of 25 years the club rose again to the Lower Austrian regional league.

From 2000

After being promoted in 1999/2000, the club played nine seasons in the Lower Austrian Regional League, Austria's fourth-highest league, before being relegated to the fifth-class 2nd regional league in 2008/2009 . Even in this performance level one could not keep up and immediately rose to the sixth class regional league South / Southeast, where the club has been playing since then. After almost instant promotion in the first season in the sixth division and only lagging behind the champions from Traiskirchen due to a weak first half of the season, SC Ortmann was only ninth after the first half of the 2012/13 season. The club then brought in the new coach Andreas Klein, with whom they finished the season in seventh place. The first half of the 2013/14 season, where they finished fifth, went better, just six points behind the leaders from Guntramsdorf .
