Vladimir Nikolajewitsch Deschurow ( Russian Влади́мир Никола́евич Дежу́ров ; born July 30, 1962 in Jawas , Subowa Polyana Raion , Mordovia , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian cosmonaut .
Deschurow graduated in 1983 from the Higher Military Aviation School "Sergei Grizewez" in Kharkiv with a degree as an aviation engineer. He then served four years as a pilot in the Soviet Air Force in Odessa Oblast .
In 1987 he was selected for the cosmonaut squad. From December 1987 to June 1989 he received his basic training.
From March 1994 he was preparing for the flight to the Mir space station . Deshurov was selected as the commander of the eighteenth regular crew Mir EO-18. He stayed 115 days in space between the start with Soyuz TM-21 on March 14, 1995 and the landing with the space shuttle Atlantis on July 7, 1995.
From August 12 to December 15, 2001 he was a member of the third long-term crew of the International Space Station (ISS); Including the outward flight with the Space Shuttle Discovery and return flight with the Space Shuttle Endeavor , he was in space for 128 days.
Deschurow is married and has two daughters.
