Mark Prettenthaler (born April 11, 1983 in Graz ) is an Austrian football player on the position of a defender .

Career

In his youth Prettenthaler played for ESV Austria Graz and FC Gratkorn and was already under contract with Bundesliga club ASKÖ Pasching before moving to the second-class first division for Kapfenberger SV in the 2004/05 season .

There he did not come to any championship use. After one and a half successful years at Kapfenberg , Mark Prettenthaler signed a contract with Sturm Graz in the 2006/07 season . His first Bundesliga goal in Austria was his first Bundesliga appearance on July 23, 2006 in a 4-1 defeat against Rapid Vienna . In this game he was substituted in for Jürgen Säumel in the 46th minute . After the end of the 2007/08 season, the Graz native moved to Germany for FC Augsburg . There he tore a cruciate ligament in October . Up until then, he had only played a single game when he played through SC Paderborn 07 in the DFB Cup . On March 8, 2009 he finally played his first championship match for Augsburg and scored his first Bundesliga goal in Germany in a 1-1 draw against 1. FSV Mainz .

On June 30, 2009, the man from Graz moved again to SK Sturm Graz, where he signed a two-year contract.

On February 1, 2010, Prettenthaler signed a contract with Bundesliga club LASK Linz. On May 12, 2010, however, LASK Linz announced that it would no longer extend the Styrian’s contract for the coming season. The Graz native then moved to SV Ried within Upper Austria . He won the Austrian Cup at the end of the 2010/11 season, but had to leave the club soon after, having been convicted of grievous bodily harm on May 19, 2011 after breaking a woman's nose in December of the previous year.

On August 31, 2011, the Kapfenberger SV announced the commitment of the defender, in which he had to pause for around two months after only two completed league games due to a collateral ligament tear in his knee, but then worked his way up to the regular strength, but again due to the last three championship games a scaphoid fracture failed. In June 2012 he signed a two-year contract with FC Pasching in the third-class regional league middle, but was only used in 13 games in the league. In May 2013 he again won the Austrian Cup with FC Pasching and finished the season with the team in second place behind LASK Linz .

After the left-back completed the 2013/14 season as a regular in the third division's defensive row and made 27 league appearances, three goals and two assists, he switched back to the Austrian Bundesliga for SC during the summer break before the 2014/15 season Wiener Neustadt , where he signed a one-year contract plus an option for another year. The club did not pull the option and let the contract expire in summer 2015. Prettenthaler had made 20 league games by then, but fell out several times over the course of the season, including in the first two months due to a torn muscle fiber. After leaving in the summer, he was then without a club for half a year.

In January 2016 he moved to the second division SKN St. Pölten , with whom he signed a contract that was valid until June 2016.

After his contract in St. Pölten expired, he moved to the regional division SC Mannsdorf in summer 2016 . In January 2017 he joined the seventh-class 1. FC Bisamberg .
