Jürgen Säumel (born September 8, 1984 in Friesach ) is a former Austrian football player and now coach .
Career
As a player
Jürgen Säumel's first club was in the youth division of the Styrian TSV Neumarkt . In 1999 he was initially committed to the youth center by Bundesliga club SK Sturm Graz . After his training he was accepted thanks to his good performance in the combat team, for which he played from the 2002/03 season. In the same season he was with the Austrian U-19 national team bronze medalist at the U-19 European Championship in Liechtenstein . As a regular player in the youth team, he played a total of 33 international youth matches for Austria, scoring 5 goals.
In 2004 midfielder Jürgen Säumel rose to the position of storm captain at the age of only 20 and was subsequently able to recommend himself to the Austrian national team. Under Hans Krankl , he made his debut in his own stadium in Graz on August 17, 2005 in a 2-2 draw against Scotland , but had to wait almost two years after a second team appearance before Krankl's successor Josef Hickersberger also let him come into play. Säumel was in the Austrian squad at Euro 2008 .
Säumel, whose contract with SK Sturm Graz expired in 2008, signed a contract for three years with FC Turin on July 22, 2008 . After relegation to Serie B after only one season, Säumel was no longer used as a regular player and was recently hardly on the field. Säumel was in 30 league games for Turin FC and scored two goals. On January 31, 2010 Säumels change on loan within Serie B to Brescia Calcio was announced. With Brescia he got into the Serie A on. Since the two clubs could not agree on a transfer Säumels, he was not used in the 2010/11 season.
In January 2011 Säumel moved to MSV Duisburg, initially for six months in the second German division. After only seven appearances, four of which were late substitutions, the contract was not renewed. On August 8, 2011, Säumel's home club, SK Sturm Graz, announced its return. Säumel received a one-year contract with an option for an additional year. In the summer of 2013, his contract with SK Sturm Graz was not extended, so Säumel was without a club. On October 25, 2013, he signed a contract with SC Wiener Neustadt , with whom he had already trained for the past few weeks, until summer 2014 with an option for another year. From June 2014 he played for FC Wacker Innsbruck .
He left Wacker after the 2016/17 season. In May 2018 he ended his career after a season without a club.
As a trainer
After initially working as a youth coach at his youth club TSV Neumarkt , Säumel became Markus Schopp's co-trainer at Bundesliga club TSV Hartberg in June 2018 .
