Thomas Fröschl (born September 20, 1988 in Linz ) is an Austrian football player on the position of a striker .

Career

society

The striker began his football career at the age of seven in the youth teams of SC St. Pantaleon-Erla . At the age of only 15, Fröschl was able to establish himself in the fighting team of his home club (then Bezirksliga Nord, Upper Austria ; sixth performance level) in the 2004/05 season and played 25 championship games in which he scored six goals. In the 2005/06 game year he was eight times successful in 24 games. In the 2006/07 season, Fröschl drew attention to himself when he was able to score 22 goals in 24 games and thus became the top scorer in the Upper Austrian 1st Class East. This was the reason why he was signed by the Regionalliga Mitte club Union St. Florian in summer 2007 , where he scored 17 goals in 34 games.

In the summer of 2008 Thomas Fröschl was signed by the Bundesliga club SK Rapid Wien and thus received his first professional contract. To make it easier for Fröschl to switch to the professional field, he was transferred from Rapid to the first league to cooperation partner DSV Leoben , where he scored his first professional goal on August 1, 2008 in a 2-1 win against SKN St. Pölten . After the bankruptcy of Leoben he moved back to the amateurs of the Austrian record champions SK Rapid Wien in the Regionalliga Ost , where he scored six goals in 13 games. For the 2009/10 season Fröschl was awarded to the cooperation club FC Lustenau 07.

Before the 2010/11 season it was planned to transfer him to LASK Linz in his hometown Linz in exchange for Christoph Saurer . However, this transfer did not take place and so Fröschl was finally awarded to the SKN St. Pölten on the last day of the transfer phase . From there he moved to SC Wiener Neustadt in the summer of 2012, again on loan until the summer of 2014 . From 2014 to 2015 he played for SV Ried , in summer 2015 he moved to LASK Linz. In February 2016 he returned to SV Ried, where he received a contract valid until June 2018.

With Ried, he was relegated from the Bundesliga in 2017. After the 2017/18 season, he left Ried and switched to league rivals FC Blau-Weiß Linz , with whom he received a contract that ran until June 2020. In June 2020, he terminated his contract after 35 second division games. For the 2020/21 season he moved to the fourth-class ASK St. Valentin .

National team

Due to his scoring qualities, Thomas Fröschl was called up by team boss Andreas Heraf to join the under-20 national team, where he made his team debut on August 19, 2008 against Switzerland (0: 1). Fröschl, who had never played in an Austrian national team before, made the leap from the 7th level to an ÖFB selection in just two years .
