Thorsten Röcher (born June 11, 1991 in Neunkirchen ) is an Austrian football player on the position of a striker . He is under contract with FC Ingolstadt 04 .

Career

Soccer

Thorsten Röcher comes from a football-loving family. His father Erich senior already played in the position of a striker, but never dared the leap into the professional field and remained loyal to his home club SV Gloggnitz until the end of his career, except for a few years in Schlögelmühl . His two older brothers Erich junior and Jürgen also play football actively. After Thorsten chased the ball as a toddler, he started playing club football at SV Gloggnitz at the age of seven. For several years his father was also his trainer there. At SV Gloggnitz he also went through the various age groups.

Since he was very accurate in the youth classes, it was only a matter of time before coach Andreas Wastl, a former player of 1. Wiener Neustädter SC, accepted him into the fighting team. As a 15-year-old, the two-legged attacker made a few short appearances in the combat team. In the 2006/07 season Thorsten Röcher was promoted to the first team's squad and scored 12 goals in 30 games. In the 2007/08 season he rose to the regional league with SV Gloggnitz from 1st class south. That season he scored 18 goals in 25 games.

After the SV Mattersburg goalkeeper from Gloggnitz , Stefan Bliem , had already made his coach Franz Lederer aware of the talented Thorsten Röcher, the Bundesliga club's coach was finally confident after a friendly against SV Gloggnitz in June 2010. Nevertheless, the transfer did not take place until January 17, 2011, as Röcher first wanted to complete his training as an office clerk . However, in the course of the autumn championship 2010, Röcher was closely monitored by the sports management of the Bundesliga club. “I am convinced that if he stays healthy and willing, he will go his way,” coach Lederer predicted a good career for him.

The striker did not let the big jump from the sixth level into the Bundesliga show. In the preparatory games Thorsten Röcher recommended himself with good performances - on January 21, 2011 he scored the first goal for his new club in a 1-1 draw in the friendly against TSV Hartberg - which is why it was not surprising that he was already in the second spring round made his professional debut on February 19, 2011. In the home game of SV Mattersburg against SK Sturm Graz (1: 1) he was used in the 88th minute of the game instead of Róbert Waltner .

For the 2017/18 season he moved to league competitor SK Sturm Graz , with whom he received a contract valid until June 2019. After a season with Styria, he moved to Germany in the summer of 2018 for second division club FC Ingolstadt 04 , with whom he received a contract that ran until June 2021.

At Ingolstadt he could not prevail and scored only two goals in 17 league games. At the end of the season, the striker was relegated with the club from the 2nd Bundesliga . He then returned to Sturm Graz on loan for the 2019/20 season. By the end of the loan, he made 23 Bundesliga appearances for Graz, in which he scored five goals.

Futsal

Thorsten Röcher not only chased the ball on the green turf, but also demonstrated his technique in futsal with his brothers Erich and Jürgen. The "Röcher Trio" was largely responsible for ensuring that 1. FC Allstars Wiener Neustadt was able to celebrate an Austrian championship title and a runner-up title, with Thorsten standing out with 104 goals.

After internal disagreements, the Röcher brothers left the club in 2010 and moved to the stragglers FC Polonia Wien . There they took revenge and inflicted a bitter 3: 4 home defeat on their ex-club with three hits from Thorsten Röcher, which threw them out of the title race. Due to his professional contract, which has meanwhile been signed with SV Mattersburg, he was no longer allowed to play in the remaining games, which is why Polonia Wien did not get past last place.
