Marcel Gaus (born August 2, 1989 in Düsseldorf ) is a German soccer player who has been part of FC Ingolstadt 04's squad since the 2017/18 season .

Career

Gaus was already active for Fortuna Düsseldorf in his youth and was appointed to the first team in summer 2008, with which he was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga in 2009 . From the following season 2009/10 Gaus also played for Fortuna's second team in the Regionalliga West . After he was unable to win a regular place in the Fortuna second division team in 2010/11 either, Gaus did not extend his contract, which expired at the end of the 2010/11 season, and left Fortuna after five years.

For the 2011/12 season , Gaus was signed by FSV Frankfurt for one year with an option for another season. After a few less successful missions on the offensive, he was used by coach Hans-Jürgen Boysen on the left defensive side. In his eighth game for the second division of Bornheim he scored his first goal in the 1: 2 away defeat at FC St. Pauli on the twelfth match day. Under Boysen's successor Benno Möhlmann , Gaus was a regular on the offensive left wing of the FSV after the winter break. In the 2012/13 season , however, he missed the entire preliminary round due to a protracted pubic bone inflammation and was only used again after the winter break.

1. FC Kaiserslautern Gaus signed for the 2013/14 season . Born in Düsseldorf, he received a four-year contract with the Palatinate, which was valid for the Bundesliga and the 2nd Bundesliga . On July 20, 2013, he made his debut on the first matchday in the away game against SC Paderborn , which FCK won 1-0. He scored his first goal for Lautrer on September 29, 2013 in a 3-0 home win against 1860 Munich for a 1-0 lead.

For the 2017/18 season, Gaus moved to FC Ingolstadt 04 with a three-year contract .
