Terrence Anthony Boyd (born February 16, 1991 in Bremen ) is a German - American football player . He is under contract with Halleschen FC .
Career
society
Hertha BSC
Boyd began his career in the youth teams of various smaller clubs. He was active for 1. FC Burg , TSV Lesum-Burgdamm , SC Weyhe , LTS Bremerhaven and FC Bremerhaven and switched to Hertha BSC during the winter break of the 2008/09 season . In the first half of the year Boyd played most of the time in the second team (U-23) in the fourth-class Regionalliga Nord . He also came to five missions in the A-youth (U-19). His playing times in the 2009/10 season looked similar. For the 2010/11 season Boyd was no longer eligible to play for the A-youth due to his age. In his first full year in the senior sector, he became a regular player and a fixture in the team. In total, he scored 15 goals in 44 appearances in two and a half seasons.
Borussia Dortmund
For the 2011/12 season Boyd moved to Borussia Dortmund in its second team (U-23), which played in the fourth-class Regionalliga West. Here, too, he became a regular player straight away. On October 22, 2011 Boyd was in the 18-man squad for the first time in a Bundesliga match of the first team, but he was not substituted in in the 5-0 win against 1. FC Köln . In the first half of the season he scored ten goals in 15 missions for the second team. Another ten goals in the second half of the season meant he was second on the scorers list with 20 goals this season and the championship of the regional league for the Dortmund Reserve.
SK Rapid Vienna
For the 2012/13 season Boyd moved to the Austrian Bundesliga for SK Rapid Vienna . He was given a three-year contract until June 30, 2015.
In his first league game (against FC Wacker Innsbruck ) he recorded two goals and one assist. He was also involved in SK Rapid's entry into the group stage of the 2012/13 Europa League . In the third qualifying round, Boyd took the penalty against Vojvodina Novi Sad in stoppage time of the second half, which brought Rapid the 1-0, and a short time later increased it to 2-0 himself. In the play-off game against PAOK Saloniki , he scored the 2-0 goal in a 3-0 home win and reached the group stage with Rapid.
RB Leipzig
For the 2014/15 season , Boyd moved back to Germany, where he joined RB Leipzig . He signed a three-year contract with the second division promoted until June 30, 2017. In December 2014, Boyd suffered a cruciate ligament rupture in the second division game against FC Ingolstadt 04 and was out for more than a year and a half. In the 2016/17 season he made his comeback in the regional league reserve in the city derby against 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig (1-0).
SV Darmstadt 98
On January 24, 2017, Boyd signed a contract with Bundesliga club SV Darmstadt 98 until June 2018. In his third game for this club, he scored his first Bundesliga goal on matchday 20 against Borussia Dortmund . At the end of the 2016/17 Bundesliga season , Boyd was relegated to the 2nd division with Darmstadt.
Toronto FC
After the US Major League Soccer transfer window opened in early February 2019, the Canadian franchise Toronto FC signed the attacker for the 2019 season . However, Boyd only played eleven times in the league and twice in the CONCACAF Champions League without being able to contribute a goal or an assist.
Hallescher FC
At the end of July Boyd signed a two-year contract with third division Hallescher FC .
National team
Boyd played twice for the US U-20s and U-23s. On February 23, 2012 he was nominated by national coach Jürgen Klinsmann in the squad of the US national team . In the surprising 1-0 away win in Genoa over Italy on February 29, 2012, Boyd came on in the 78th minute for Jozy Altidore . He was also used in the 1-0 win in August 2012 at the Aztec Stadium in Mexico City against Mexico , the first away win of a national team of the United States against Mexico, and in the 4: 3 win on June 2, 2013 in Washington against Germany .
In qualifying for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil , he made three appearances and qualified with the USA for the finals. He was not considered for the final squad , however .
