The FC Bremerhaven from 1899 e. V. was a football club from Bremerhaven .

history

Founded in 1899 as FC Bremerhaven-Lehe , the greatest sporting successes in the league so far have been two participations in the Regionalliga Nord in the 1994/95 and 1999/2000 seasons. After relegation from the Regionalliga Nord in 2000, the club was passed on from the Oberliga Nord to the Verbandsliga Bremen - in which they play today. The FC Bremerhaven aimed for the 2007/08 season to qualify for the newly formed Regionalliga Nord and thus the step into semi-profit, also became champions, but received no license. In the following year, 2009, no such request was made.

In its history, FC Bremerhaven has been renamed twice: in 1919 in VfB Lehe von 1899 e. V. ( Lehe is a district of Bremerhaven), 1992 again in FC Bremerhaven from 1899 e. V. The last regional league appearance was on the 34th matchday of the 1999/2000 season when they lost 0: 1 to VfB Lübeck . Bremerhaven rose with 27 points as seventeenth in the table.

In the 2006/07 season, FC Bremerhaven took second place in the Bremen Association League behind Bremer SV and just barely missed promotion, three points behind. He took part in the DFB Cup again last season because he had qualified for the first main round. Already in 2005 this respectable success was achieved, but the club was eliminated against FC Schalke 04 . In the following game year 2007/08, the team won the championship with a five-point lead, but was denied promotion for licensing reasons. For the DFB , the North Sea Stadium planned for the Regionalliga Nord did not meet the requirements for the fourth-highest division. Conversion measures in the order of 200,000 euros were not acceptable for the pure football club. In addition, financial security could not be provided to the extent required by the DFB, even though the club was financially sound.

On July 1, 2012, FC Bremerhaven Sparta Bremerhaven joined, which was then renamed FC Sparta Bremerhaven . The original aim was to merge the two clubs. However, the plans were discarded because otherwise the place in the Bremen League could not have been taken over.

Stadion

The venue of FC Bremerhaven was the Zollinlandstadion with a capacity of approx. 5000 spectators, last sold out on August 16, 1996 for the first round match of the DFB Cup against Karlsruher SC (2: 3, after a 2: 0 lead). On special occasions, people later switched to the larger North Sea Stadium , which offers space for around 10,000 spectators and is the venue for the OSC Bremerhaven. This is what happened on August 20, 2005 and September 10, 2006 for the first round matches of the DFB Cup against FC Schalke 04 (0: 3) and VfL Wolfsburg (1: 3).
