Dominik Frieser (born September 9, 1993 in Graz ) is an Austrian football player .

Career

Start of career and first steps in men's football

Frieser started his career at SK Sturm Graz . Between 2001 and 2002 he played for SV Gössendorf . In September 2002 he joined the youth group of the Grazer AK . For the 2007/08 season he returned to the Sturm Academy. In October 2008 Frieser moved to SC Seiersberg , where he was used in the eight-class second team. In August 2009 he moved to the sixth grade SVU Kumberg . In February 2010 he returned to Seiersberg.

During the winter break of the 2010/11 season, Frieser moved to the fourth-class SC Fürstenfeld . In March 2011 he made his debut in the national league when he was substituted on for Bastian Jedliczka on the 16th matchday of that season against SV Pachern in the 85th minute. In the following season in August 2011 he scored his first goal for Fürstenfeld in a 4-0 win against Pachern in the fourth-highest division. In both the 2011/12 season and the 2012/13 season he was used in all of Fürstenfeld's 30 season games.

Transfer to the second division and loan to the regional division

After two and a half years in the national league, he moved to the second division TSV Hartberg for the 2013/14 season . In August 2013 he made his debut in the second division when he came on as a substitute for Peter Žulj on the third matchday of that season against SV Horn in the 85th minute . By the winter break he made seven second division appearances for the Hartberger. In January 2014 it was awarded to the regional league team SC Kalsdorf for half a year . He played his first game in the regional league in March 2014 against USV Allerheiligen . In May 2014 he scored his only goal for Kalsdorf in the regional league in a 3-0 win against SAK Klagenfurt . In total, he came to 14 missions for Kalsdorf in the third highest division.

After his return to Hartberg, he was in the starting line-up of Hartberg for the first time in August 2014 on the fifth match day of the 2014/15 season against SC Austria Lustenau . He scored his first goal in the second division in May 2015 in a 1-0 win against SV Horn. By the end of the season he made 30 appearances in the second division and scored a goal, with Hartberg, however, he had to relegate to the regional league as bottom of the table.

Then Frieser joined the second division Kapfenberger SV for the 2015/16 season . In his first season for KSV he came to 35 league appearances and scored five goals, only one game he missed suspended. In the following 2016/17 season, Frieser played 34 of 36 games this season and scored two goals.

For the 2017/18 season he moved to Bundesliga club Wolfsberger AC , where he received a contract that ran until June 2018. He made his debut for the Carinthians in the Bundesliga in July 2018 when he was brought into play for Thomas Zündel in the 82nd minute on the first matchday of that season against FC Red Bull Salzburg . On the fourth matchday he was on the Wolfsberger starting line-up for the first time against Sturm Graz. In May 2018, he scored his first two goals in the top division in a 2-1 win against FK Austria Wien . As a result, Frieser was only the fourth player who had managed to score a goal in all eight divisions. In total, he came to 22 missions in his first Bundesliga season, in which he scored four goals.

With the LASK in the European Cup

After his contract with WAC expired, he switched to league competitor LASK for the 2018/19 season , with whom he received a contract that ran until June 2020. In July 2018 he played his first international game when he came on for Reinhold Ranftl in the 84th minute in the second round first leg of qualifying for the Europa League against Lillestrøm SK . Frieser also scored the goal to make it 4-0 in stoppage time. After they had also been victorious in the second leg against the Norwegians, they met Beşiktaş Istanbul in the third round . After a 1-0 away defeat, they were eliminated from the competition after a 2-1 home win in the second leg, Frieser scored the goal in the second leg for the interim 2-0 lead of LASK. In November 2018, his contract with Upper Austria was prematurely extended to June 2021. In two seasons at LASK, Frieser made 61 Bundesliga appearances and scored 14 goals.

Move to England

For the 2020/21 season he moved to England for second division club FC Barnsley , where he received a contract that ran until June 2022.
