Noah Arinze Okafor (born May 24, 2000 ) is a Swiss - Nigerian football player . The striker has been playing for FC Red Bull Salzburg since January 2020 and is also the current A and U21 national team for Switzerland.

Career

Noah Okafor, son of a Nigerian and a Swiss woman, moved from FC Arisdorf to the youth department of FC Basel in 2009 . After going through all youth departments up to U-21, he switched to the first team under coach Raphael Wicky in January 2018 . Although he was still involved with the U-21s, he was repeatedly called up in the second half of the 2017/18 season , but had to wait for his first appearance until the last match day. In the game against FC Luzern (2-2), he came on in the 34th minute of the game for the injured Mohamed Elyounoussi . On the second match day of the 2018/19 season against Neuchâtel Xamax , he scored his first goal in only his second appearance for FC Basel. Interim coach Alexander Frei put him in the starting line-up on the left and let him play for 77 minutes.

In January 2020 he moved to Austria for FC Red Bull Salzburg , where he received a contract that ran until May 2024.

National team

Noah Okafor played for the U15 and U17 national teams as well as for the U18 and U19 teams of Switzerland. On June 9, 2019, he played his first game for the A-Team in the game for third place in the 2018/19 UEFA Nations League against England ( 5-6 p.e. ).
