Press reviews

The reviews for Traum von Freiheit are mixed and not always positive. Enrico Ahlig emphasizes in Metal Hammer that Betontod is trying "with all their might" to " free itself from the predicate" German rock ", although they don't need it at all," because catchy pop-punk has little to do with the relevant bands common. ”In his opinion,“ hymns like the great title track ”“ would be more likely to roar at an Antifa demo than an Onkelz party ”and with“ 'My last day' and 'Wings made of steel', there are two other great candidates for a future best-of publication. "

Oliver Meister at the Reload Festival 2017

On the occasion of the band's announcement that they would “return to the origin of their work” in the new album, Kai Buttenbeck asks himself at laut.de : “What is different than three years ago?” He attests to the band and the album “a constantly turning around itself Melange of smooth-ironed street dog punk and mass-compatible metal "as well as" a solid, but not particularly impressive snot-potpourri for all Wacken season ticket holders with Campino tattoos. "In conclusion, he sums up an album" somewhere between punk, rock and metal, half upright, half staggering, turning in circles. So, don't panic and no reason to raise your eyebrows: everything as usual. It's a shame, actually. "

If you follow Tobias Kreutzer on metal.de , “BETONTOD drive a mixture on“ Traum von Freiheit ”, which is in no way inferior to a band like DIE TOTEN HOSEN in terms of catchiness and love for melodies, but on the other hand, both in terms of riffing and production, time and again drifting into Metal. "He praises especially in his eyes close to the metalcore bands like Rise against active only for a night and the double bass in wings of Gold and history as well as the opener and title track dream of freedom , in which" the undistorted Guitar with a lot of delay ”“ at first a “days like this 2.0” may be feared, but in the chorus it turns into a punk catchy tune of the very highest order. ”On the other hand, he also attests the band“ a few set to music Downsides ”, whereby he especially“ the pathetic bar melancholy hymn 'Forever' ”. In his conclusion, Traum von Freiheit “ is a decent album by a band that gives the German Pooh nk Rock adds a few interesting facets ”and with Betontod“ continues unstoppable in the free niche between “real” punk and HOSEN, BROILERS and the like and (…) doing well [hold] ".
