Mohamed Amine Elyounoussi (born August 4, 1994 in Al Hoceïma , Morocco ) is a Norwegian football player . He has played for Southampton FC in the Premier League and for the Norwegian national team since the 2018/19 season . His traditional position is that of midfielder .

Private life

Elyounoussi came to Norway from Morocco when he was two. He is the cousin of Tarik Elyounoussi and Ridouan Elyounoussi .

Club career

Sarpsborg 08 FF, Molde FK

In his youth Elyounoussi had played for Sarpsborg FK before moving to Sarpsborg 08 FF at the age of 15 . For his first appearance for Sarpsborg 08 FF in the Tippeligaen , he came on May 8, 2011 in the game against Odds BK . After nine missions in his first season , he was relegated with the team. With nine goals in 26 missions, he contributed to the immediate return of Sarpsborg 08 FF to the first division; in the 2013 season Elynounoussi secured relegation against Ranheim IL with Sarpsborg 08 FF .

On March 15, 2014 he moved to Molde FK , was after 13 goals scored in 30 games Norwegian champions and won the Norwegian Cup with Molde FK; he scored one goal in each game from the round of 16 to the final. Previously, the club was eliminated in qualifying for the Europa League against Zorya Luhansk . In the 2015 season Elyounoussi finished sixth with Molde FK and retired with the club in qualifying for the Champions League against Dinamo Zagreb . In the preliminary round for the Europa League they qualified for the main competition, in which the team was eliminated in the intermediate round against FC Sevilla .

FC Basel

On July 1, 2016, he moved to the then Swiss champions FC Basel . On February 4, 2017, Elyounoussi scored his first flawless hat trick for the Basler.

Under coach Urs Fischer , Elyounoussi won the championship title and the cup competition with FCB at the end of the 2016/17 championship . Elyounoussi made a total of 33 appearances in the Swiss Cup and Super League, in which he scored ten goals. He played three games in the UEFA Champions League . The following season he reached the round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League with FC Basel , in which they were eliminated by Manchester City . In the Swiss Cup , the semi-finals against BSC Young Boys were the final destination.

Southampton FC

In July 2018 Elyounoussi moved to the English Premier League Club Southampton FC . On August 30, 2019, Elyounoussi was awarded to Celtic Glasgow for the 2019/20 season.

National team

Elyounoussi has played for Norwegian youth national teams since 2009. In November 2013 he was appointed to the squad of the Norwegian senior team for the first time and played his first game on January 18, 2014 against Poland , when he came on for Erik Huseklepp in the 33rd minute .
