Michael "Mikey" Andrew Johnston (born April 19, 1999 in Glasgow ) is a Scottish football player who plays for Celtic Glasgow .

Career

Michael Johnston has played in the Youth Academy of Celtic Glasgow since 2008 . In the 2016/17 season , the then 18-year-old striker made his professional debut on the third from last matchday under Brendan Rodgers . He was surprisingly in the starting line-up and was substituted in the 57th minute against Scott Sinclair . Immediately after the game, his contract with Celtic was extended by three years. In December 2019, his contract was prematurely extended for another five years until 2025.

National team

Michael Johnston played once for the U-15 and U-17 national teams of Scotland in 2013 and 2015 . In 2017, Johnston played in the Scottish U-19 . In May 2018 he made his U-21 debut against Togo.
