Albian Ajeti (born February 26, 1997 in Basel ) is a Swiss football player of Kosovar descent. He has been under contract with the Scottish club Celtic Glasgow since August 2020 .

Career

youth

Albian and his twin brother Adonis began their football careers in 2005 as juniors at FC Basel . In the same year, her older brother Arlind also moved from FC Concordia Basel to FC Basel. In the 2011/12 and 2012/13 seasons Albian played in the U-16 team, which at the time was one of the strongest U-16 teams in Europe, and was twice Swiss champions. From the 2012/13 season, he was only 15 years old when he was a member of the U-18 team. On April 30, 2013, the twin brothers received their first professional contract from FC Basel. Previously, they had rejected a request from the Spanish top club FC Barcelona for their U-16 team. From the 2013/14 season Albian rose to the U-21 team of FC Basel.

FC Basel

Ajeti made his debut for the first team of FC Basel in the last 16 of the Europa League 2013/14 against FC Red Bull Salzburg , where he came on in the 90th minute. In the Swiss Super League, he was used for the first time on April 6, 2014 against FC Thun when he came on in the 86th minute. In his second championship game on May 18, 2014 against FC Lausanne-Sport , he scored his first goal for FC Basel in the 8th minute.

FC Augsburg

At the beginning of January 2016, Ajeti moved to the German Bundesliga for FC Augsburg . He was given a contract that ran until June 30, 2020. National team

Ajeti has so far been through the junior teams U-15 and U-16 in Switzerland. From October 2012 to May 2014 Ajeti plays for the Swiss U-17 national team and scored 7 goals in 17 games. He made his debut for the Swiss U-18 national team on September 4, 2014 in a 1-0 away win against the Swedish U-18s , where he scored the winning goal . He made his debut for the U-20s on March 31, 2015 as a substitute against the Italian U-20s .

On September 8, 2018, Ajeti made his senior national team debut in the first group game of the UEFA Nations League against Iceland . In the 65th minute of the game he was substituted on for Breel Embolo when the score was 3-0 and scored the goal to make it 5-0 just six minutes later.
