Jean-Paul Brigger

Jean-Paul Brigger (born December 14, 1957 in St. Niklaus ) is a former Swiss football player and football coach .

Career as a player

Jean-Paul Brigger played as a junior in his hometown St. Niklaus and in FC Visp. In 1977 he moved to the traditional club FC Sion , where he played until 1982. 1982–1985 he was under contract with Servette . In 1983 he became the top scorer in Switzerland . In 1985 he moved back to FC Sion, where he ended his career in 1992. Between 1979 and 1988 he was a member of the Swiss national football team and played 35 games in which he scored three goals. Brigger won the championship twice and the cup four times in his career.

Career as a trainer and sports official

Brigger coached FC Sion from July 1992 to January 1993 and FC Luzern from July 1994 to February 1997 . From 1999 to the end of 2003 and again from 2005 to 2017 he worked for FIFA . From January to December 2004 he was briefly the sports director of the Grasshopper Club Zurich . For the 2017/18 season, Brigger took over the office of Delegate of the Board of Directors at FC Basel . But after only a year Brigger left the club. Since January 2019 he has been head of sport at the amateur team FC Naters Oberwallis.
