In the Super League, the ten clubs competed against each opponent twice at home and twice away. In total, each team played 36 games. The winner will be the 2016 Swiss Champion and will be given a place in the group stage of the 2016/17 UEFA Champions League . The last placed will be relegated to the Challenge League.

The second-placed team will have the chance to advance to the group stage of the 2016/17 UEFA Champions League via two qualifying rounds. The teams finishing third and fourth in the championship will take part in the 2016/17 UEFA Europa League . The fifth-placed team will also get a starting place if the cup winner is among the teams that have already qualified.
