Urs Meier (born July 7, 1961 in Zurich ) is a former Swiss football player and current coach .

Career

Urs Meier began his coaching career in July 1993 after his active career. After several positions, he finally joined FC Zurich in 2005 and coached the club's U-18s and U-21s for several years.

After Rolf Fringer's dismissal in November 2012, he took on the role of coach of the FCZ with an open-ended contract. He celebrated his greatest success in the 2013/14 season when he defeated FC Basel 2-0 in extra time with FC Zurich and became the Swiss Cup winner .

Urs Meier was released from FCZ on August 3, 2015.

From the 2017/18 season to March 2019, Urs Meier was head coach at FC Rapperswil-Jona , who played in the Challenge League.
