The First Division 2015/16 , ( Greek: Παγκύπριο Πρωτάθλημα Α΄ Κατηγορίας ), also called the Cyta Championship for sponsorship reasons , was the 77th season of the top division of the Republic of Cyprus in men's football . It started on August 22, 2015 and ended on May 22, 2016.

After a season with twelve teams, the league was again increased to 14 teams.

First round

In the first round of the season, the 14 clubs played for the placements, the result of which in the second half of the season formed the basis for a division of the teams into two groups of six teams each.

The six best-placed clubs reached the championship round, the teams in places seven to twelve play against relegation. The teams in 13th and 14th were relegated directly. In the individual groups, the number of points achieved in each of the 22 games in the preliminary round was transferred, so that the respective second round could only cause minor changes depending on the table situation.

In the event of a tie, the direct comparison was initially decisive for the placement .
