Cillian Sheridan (born February 23, 1989 in Bailieborough ) is an Irish football player . He has been playing for the Israeli club Hapoel Ironi Kirjat Schmona in the Ligat ha'Al since July 2019 .

Career

Sheridan began his career at Belvedere FC and played there until 2006. After moving to Celtic Glasgow , he was brought up from the youth department in the first team a year later. He made his debut in Scotland on May 20, 2007 in the championship playoff against Hibernian Edinburgh . He came on in the 88th minute for Craig Beattie . The game in Edinburgh was lost 1: 2. In the end, Celtic was Scottish champion and cup winner. In the following season, the Irish came again in the championship playoff to a use. Celtic was able to defend the title. In 2008/09 he was used in the autumn and played twelve games, and he also scored four goals. Sheridan's first came on October 25, 2008 against Hibernian.

In February 2009 he was awarded to Motherwell FC , whose squad he was part of until the end of the season. The club finished seventh with the left winger. He then moved to Plymouth Argyle in England for half a year . He left the second highest English division in winter and then returned to Scotland for FC St. Johnstone . In the end, the eighth place overall was achieved.

In the summer of 2010 Sheridan signed a contract with the Bulgarian runner-up CSKA Sofia . He made his debut at European club level with the Bulgarians. In the play-off game for qualifying for the Europa League against the representatives from Wales The New Saints FC on August 19, 2010, he was substituted on in the 54th minute. The game was won 3-0. However, the breakthrough in Sofia was a long time coming and so he spent his second year on loan again in Scotland with FC St. Johnstone.

Shortly after the start of the 2012/13 season, CSKA Sofia Sheridan finally released a move and so in September 2012 the latter signed a two-year contract with another Scottish first division club - FC Kilmarnock . In his third league appearance for "Killie" he scored all the goals for a 3-1 success at Heart of Midlothian .

After holding positions at APOEL Nicosia , Omonia Nicosia and Jagiellonia Białystok , he played for the New Zealand club Wellington Phoenix since the beginning of January 2019 . But only six months later he switched to the Israeli first division club Hapoel Ironi Kirjat Schmona .

National team

Sheridan made his debut for the Irish senior team on May 25, 2010 in a friendly against Paraguay . He came on in the 63rd minute for Robbie Keane . The game in Dublin was won 2-1. In the same year it was used twice and has not been taken into account since then.
