Arvydas Novikovas (born December 18, 1990 in Vilnius ) is a Lithuanian football player who has been under contract with the Polish first division club Legia Warsaw since July 2019 .

Career

Arvydas Novikovas began his professional career - not yet 17 years old - with the second division team Interas-AE Visaginas from the municipality of the same name in the Utena district in northeast Lithuania .

In 2008 the Scottish first division club Heart of Midlothian signed him . He made his debut for the team from Edinburgh in the last qualifying game for the championship in 2009 in the goalless draw in the away game against Celtic Glasgow , when he came on in the 51st minute for David Templeton . In the summer of 2010, the 19-year-old young striker extended his contract for another three years. During this time he worked for the 2010/11 season at the league rivals FC St. Johnstone .

For the 2013/14 season Novikovas moved to the second division club FC Erzgebirge Aue on a free transfer , with whom he received a contract valid until June 30, 2016. After the descent into the third league , he transferred to season 2015/16 for VfL Bochum , with whom he signed a to 30 June 2017 current contract.

National team

Novikovas made his debut in the U-21 national team of Lithuania at the age of 16. He made his debut for the senior national team on May 25, 2010, which was defeated 4-0 to Ukraine in Kharkiv .
