Chris Philipps (born March 8, 1994 in Wiltz ) is a Luxembourg soccer player . He has been under contract with Belgian second division club Lommel SK since January 2020 .

Career

society

Philipps started playing football at FC Green Boys 77 Harlange-Tarchamps . At the age of 13 he switched to Etzella Ettelbrück's youth and a little later to the FC Metz youth academy . At the beginning of 2013 he signed his first professional contract for five years. On October 21, 2013, Philipps made his debut in the professional team of FC Metz in a 3-0 win at Stade Brest and in the same season made his way up to the French Ligue 1 .

After relegation to Ligue 2, Chris Philipps moved to Prussia Münster for a year on loan for the 2015/16 season , where he made 25 appearances (1 template) in the 3rd division. For the 2016/17 season, Philipps returned to FC Metz, which has meanwhile been promoted to Ligue 1 again. In a year and a half he made a total of 28 competitive games (no goal) for the French club.

During the winter break of 2017/18 he was signed by the top Polish club Legia Warsaw . One of the reasons for the move was the negative atmosphere towards Luxembourg players at FC Metz. On the evening of January 6, 2019, Legia informed him that despite a contract that ran until December 31, 2019, he would be released with immediate effect. Since no interested club could be found, Philipps was transferred to Legia's reserve team.

After the end of the contract, Philipps moved to the Belgian second division team SK Lommel in January 2020 , where he signed a contract until the end of the season with an option for another year.

National team

For the U-national team of his home country Philipps came to various missions, u. a. three games at the U17 European Championship elite round 2009 in Luxembourg. On February 29, 2012, he made his debut for the senior team in a friendly against Macedonia . In the 2-1 victory, he was allowed to participate for 90 minutes.
