Piana di Monte Verna is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 2256 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Caserta in Campania . The municipality is located about 10.5 kilometers north of Caserta in the Monti Trebulani and borders directly on the province of Benevento . The southern boundary of the municipality is formed by the Volturno .

history

The place was first mentioned in documents around 1205. The church of Santa Maria a Marciano , a little south of the place, was built around 1000.

The Piana di Monte Verna train station is on the railway line from Santa Maria Capua Vetere to Piedimonte Matese . The former Strada Statale 87 Sannitica (now a provincial road) leads through the municipality .
