Cellole is an Italian commune ( comune ) with 8048 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Caserta in Campania . The municipality is located about 43 kilometers northwest of Caserta . With its districts Baia Domizia and Baia Felice , the Tyrrhenian Sea borders Cellole in the west . The only neighboring municipality is Sessa Aurunca .

history

The Latinized form pagus cellularum appears in old documents . The villages in the municipality probably existed in ancient times and were settlements of the Aurunker .

traffic

The Strada Statale 7quater Via Domitiana and the former Strada Statale 430 della Valle del Garigliano (today: regional road) lead through the municipality . The former stop on the Roma – Formia – Napoli railway line has now been closed. The next train station is in Sessa Aurunca (or in Roccamonfina ).
