Casaluce is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 9756 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Caserta in Campania . The municipality is located about 13.5 kilometers southwest of Caserta and about 18 kilometers north-northwest of Naples .

history

Even if the area was settled earlier, the fortifications of Casaluce from the 11th century are probably the actual starting point of today's town. A village called Cronaca Volturnese is said to have existed here until at least 964 and may actually go back to a Roman foundation.

During the fascist reign, the municipality was added to the province of Naples. After the war it was reassigned to the province of Caserta.

traffic

Strada Statale 7bis (variant) di Terra di Lavoro and Strda Statale 265 dei Ponti della Valle, which has been downgraded to provincial road 335, lead through the municipality .
