Marcianise is a town with 39,423 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Caserta in the Campania region . It is located about 30 km north of Naples and 9 km south of the provincial capital Caserta .

history

Marcianise was probably founded in the 6th century AD and probably destroyed by the Saracens in 861.

The area has been hit by frequent cholera . According to a legend, in 1706 the city was spared by the Holy Cross. Later the marshland in the area fell dry and hemp cultivation expanded.

Broadcasting station

Marcianise was the location of the medium wave radio transmitter for the Naples area.
