Pontelatone is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 1626 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Caserta in Campania . It is part of the Comunità Montana Monte Maggiore . The municipality is located about 15 kilometers north-northwest of Caserta on the Monti Trebulani .
Viticulture
Here the red wine Casavecchia di Pontelatone DOC is produced, which has had a "controlled designation of origin " (Denominazione di origine controllata - DOC ) since 2011 , which was last updated on March 7, 2014. Cultivation and vinification for this denomination are also permitted in the neighboring municipalities of Liberi and Formicola and in parts of the municipalities of Caiazzo , Castel di Sasso , Castel Campagnano , Piana di Monte Verna and Ruviano .
- The Casavecchia di Pontelatone Rosso (also called "Riserva") must consist of at least 85% of the Casavecchia grape variety .
