Cilento (wine)

Under the name Cilento DOC are red , rosé and white wines from the Italian province of Salerno , region Campania produced. In 1989 they were given the status of a "controlled designation of origin " (" Denominazione di origine controllata " - DOC), which was last updated on March 7, 2014.

Cultivation

The cultivation and vinification of Cilento DOC may take place in the following communities: Agropoli , Alfano , Ascea , Camerota , Campora , Capaccio , Cannalonga , Casaletto Spartano , Casal Velino , Castellabate , Castelnuovo Cilento , Celle di Bulgheria , Centola , Ceraso , Cicerale , Cuccaro vetere , Futani , GIOi Cilento , Giungano , Ispani , Laureana Cilento , Laurito , Lustra , Magliano vetere , Moio della Civitella , Montano Antilia , Montecorice , Monteforte Cilento , Morigerati , Novi Velia , Ogliastro Cilento , Omignano , Orna, Perdifumo , Perito , Pisciotta , Pollica , Prignano Cilento , Roccagloriosa , Rofrano , Rutino , Salento , San Giovanni a Piro , San Mauro Cilento , San Mauro la Bruca , Santa Marina , Sapri , Serramezzana , Sessa Cilento , Stella Cilento , Stio , Torchiara , Torraca , Torre Orsaia , Tortorella , Trentinara , Vallo della Lucania and Vibonati . All municipalities are in the province of Salerno.

Manufacturing

The wines are made from the following grape varieties :

  • Cilento Rosso : 60-75% Aglianico , 15-20% Piedirosso and / or Primitivo . A maximum of 25% of other grape varieties approved for cultivation in the province of Salerno may be added.
  • Cilento Rosato : 70-80% Sangiovese , 15-20% Aglianico, 10-15% Primitivo and / or Piedirosso. A maximum of 10% other grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in the province of Salerno may be added.
  • Cilento Bianco : 60–65% Fiano , 20–30% Trebbiano Toscano , 10–15% Greco Bianco and / or Malvasia Bianca . A maximum of 10% other grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in the province of Salerno may be added.

Two wines are almost single-origin. They must contain at least 85% of the grape variety mentioned. A maximum of 15% other analogue grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in the province of Salerno may be added.
