Pisciotta is an Italian commune with 2555 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Salerno in the Campania region . It is part of the Comunità Montana Zona del Lambro e del Mingardo .
geography
Pisciotta covers an area of 30 km². The town center, which has formed around the Palazzo Ciaccio, is 171 m above sea level. The neighboring municipalities include: Ascea , Centola and San Mauro la Bruca .
In addition to the town center, Pisciotta consists of other districts. Caprioli and Marina di Pisciotta are on the coast and are members of the Costiera Cilentana . Rodio lies further inland at about 400 m slm
history
The place was created at the beginning of the 10th century after residents from the nearby town of Bussento were attacked by the Saracens and fled here.
