Cetara is an Italian town with 2061 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) on the Amalfi Coast in the province of Salerno , which belongs to the Campania region. It belongs to the mountain commune Comunità Montana Penisola Amalfitana .

geography

Cetara is situated about nine kilometers southwest of Salerno and about 50 km south of Naples , which on the State Road SS 163 and the highway 3 A Naples - Reggio Calabria ( Autostrada del Sole ) can be easily reached.

politics

Mayor (Sindaco) is Secondo Squizzato, who was elected on May 29, 2006. The municipal council consists of 13 members. The majority faction (9 seats) is called "Cetara Nuova - Insieme per il Futuro" (New Cetara - Together for the future), the minority faction "Uniti per Cetara" (United for Cetara).

economy

The main economic sectors are still fishing and agriculture. A nationally known product of the place is the spicy sauce Colatura di Alici di Cetara .
