The Königstraße 25 / Glockengießerstraße 1 building is a listed historical building in Lübeck . The building on the corner of Königstrasse and Glockengießerstrasse is a unique ensemble of two independent houses that are united by a common roof.

history

The corner plot was built with six stalls between 1250 and 1290 , the substance of which has been partially preserved in the core of the buildings to this day. The current building at Königstraße 25 was built in 1268, as a dendrochronological examination of the roof structure still in its original state showed. The rear facade is still brick Gothic; a rococo wing was added to it. Its current appearance on Königstrasse was shaped after 1846, when it had become the property of the citizens' association and, in addition to an event hall on the first floor, had a new facade in a classicist style . In 1919 the hall was converted into a cinema by the photographer Erich Dietrich; the Eden-Lichtspiele ceased operations in 1985. The ground floor and the cellar have been used for catering since the middle of the 19th century (1937–1969 as the Astoria dance hall ; 1969–2016 as the Hanseatic hall ). Operations ceased on June 30, 2016 because the building was to be thoroughly examined and renovated.

The otherwise separate building at Glockengießerstrasse 1 shares the roof with the house in Königstrasse . The house was originally part of the same row of stalls as the building facing Königstrasse and was only separated from it in the 19th century. It is the last example in Lübeck of corner buildings that still originate from the Middle Ages. The house, which was built in the second half of the 13th century, received its current form during renovations in the 16th century and in the second half of the 18th century when it received a simple plastered facade and a baroque, curved gable.

The exterior of the house at Königstraße 25 was placed under monument protection in 1968, the entire building at Glockengießerstraße 1 in 1996.
