Friedrich Popping

Friedrich Popping († July 31, 1640 in Lübeck ) was a German lawyer and council secretary of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck.

Life

Friedrich Popping was the son of the Lübeck protonotary Nikolaus Popping . From 1584 he studied law at the University of Rostock . In 1602 he was appointed registrar by the Lübeck council, replacing Thomas Plaß, who had been promoted to council secretary . In 1637 he is mentioned for the first time as council secretary. After his death in 1640 he was buried in the Marienkirche in Lübeck . The Lübeck council secretary and later councilor Johann Pöpping was his son and received his position in 1640. His daughter Catharina married Council Secretary Hinrich Balemann . From 1614 to 1660 Popping and his heirs owned the house at Königstrasse 25 .
