Alvignano is an Italian commune ( comune ) with 4714 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Caserta in Campania . The municipality is located about 20 kilometers north of Caserta on the Monti Trebulani . The northern boundary of the municipality is the Volturno .

The name of the community goes back to the Roman Marcus Aulus Albino, who settled here near the ancient city of Cubulteria . Cubulteria, which was in what is now the municipality, is one of the larger archaeological excavations in Campania. The Aragonese castle complex dates from the end of the Middle Ages.

Strada Statale 372 Telesina leads through the municipality from Caianello towards Benevento . The former Strada Statale 158 della Valle del Volturno has been downgraded to a provincial road here. On the railway line from Santa Maria Capua Vetere to Piedimonte Matese, there is another train station in the municipality in addition to the train station in Alvignano in the small village of Villa Ortensia .
