Castel Campagnano is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 1507 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Caserta in Campania . The municipality is located about 15.5 kilometers northeast of Caserta and borders directly on the province of Benevento . The Volturno forms the southern and eastern municipal boundaries. In the Middle Ages the place was called castrum Campanianum and until 1862 Campagnano .
