Sant'Arpino is an Italian municipality (comune) with 14,993 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Caserta in Campania . The municipality is located about 11 kilometers northwest of Naples and about 12 kilometers southwest of Caserta . The municipality borders on the metropolitan city of Naples .

history

Sant'Arpino is outside the ruins of the ancient Oscan city ​​of Atella . Due to the decline of Atellas around 10/11. In the century AD, citizens settled outside the former city walls. The village was named after the bishop Elpidius . This is where today's place name comes from, which has been official since the beginning of the 17th century.
