Rai Radio 1 ( Rai Radio Uno ) is an Italian radio station, the state of the public broadcaster of Italy, Radiotelevisione Italiana is operated. The program consists of news, sports, word broadcasts and popular music .

history

Rai Radio 1 is the successor to Italy's first radio program, which began operating on October 6, 1924 under the nickname 1-RO in Rome . This program was operated by the Unione Radiofonica Italiana (URI), which was wholly privately owned. In 1927 URI was taken over by the state Ente Italiano per le Audizioni Radiofoniche (EIAR), which at that time had the first authorized broadcasting monopoly for radio broadcasts in Italy. Later, in 1944, the EIAR was renamed Radio Audizioni Italiane (RAI) as a result of restructuring measures to introduce a stable network of transmitters and to reorganize radio broadcasting (effective November 3, 1946). This had become necessary in order to set up two new national radio stations that would reach a large part of the country. The first program was named Rete Rossa (dt. Red network) and the second was named Rete Azzura (dt. Blue network). These names were chosen to indicate that the programs offered a different program style at all times, but that each program nominally had the same status.

After the introduction of the third program on October 1, 1950 , Rete Rossa was renamed Program Nazionale (German national program) on January 1, 1952 after a further restructuring in which each of the RAI stations got its own, unmistakable identity . Further renaming followed later in Primo Programma (German first program) and most recently in Rai Radio 1.

Since 2002, Rai Radio 1 has been the only national radio station of the Rai that is still broadcast via medium wave transmitters (e.g. on 657 kHz from a transmitter in Pisa ). These ensure that the program is available nationwide in Italy.

program

Rai Radio 1's programming consists mainly of news and word broadcasts such as: B. Radio anch'io sometimes also sports broadcasts, with certain matches of the Italian national football team being broadcast live. Comments on football matches from series A and B are broadcast live on Tutto il calcio minuto per minuto , one of Radio 1's most popular programs that has been broadcast since 1960.
