history

Rai Sport 1 was founded on February 1, 1999 as Rai Sport Satellite. Rai Sport Satellite was also called Rai Sport Sat. Initially it was broadcast only from 4 p.m. to midnight. On May 10, 2008, Rai Sport Satellite was renamed Rai Sport Più. In addition, a restyling was done to better cooperate with other Rai programs such as B. Rai 3 . Since then, the Giro d'Italia , the 2008 European Football Championship , the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup , the UEFA European Under-21 Championship and the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, and thus many important competitions, have been shown live. Like all other Rai programs, Rai Sport Più changed their logo between 2008 and 2009. Since then, Rai Sport Più has shown its logo in Rai Sport +. Since May 18, 2010, the first sports-only channel has been called Rai Sport 1. For 2012, the remaining regions of Italy that have not yet had a switch-off will be completed. This is why Rai Sport 2 was created.
