Rai Radio 2 ( Radio Due ) is an Italian radio station owned by Radiotelevisione Italiana that broadcasts pop music and word broadcasts.

history

The history of Rai Radio 2 goes back to the second program of the state Ente Italiano per le Audizioni Radiofoniche (EIAR), launched on March 21, 1938, aimed at large cities, which was renamed Radio Audizioni Italiane (RAI) in 1944. On November 3, 1946, this program got the name Rete Azzurra (German blue network) after a restructuring of the Italian radio. After the introduction of the third program on October 1, 1950, it was decided to rename Rete Azzurra to Secondo Programma (Eng. Second program) on January 1, 1952 in order to give the station more identity. Most recently, the name was changed to Rai Radio 2.

The program is also broadcast on a medium wave transmitter on the frequency 693 kHz in DRM mode. From January 2008 to mid-May 2008, Rai Radio 2 was also broadcast in a package with Rai Isoradio via the now demolished Santa Palomba station, also on the frequency 846 kHz in DRM mode.
