Rai Movie , previous names RaiSat Cinema World (2003-2006) and RaiSat Cinema (1999-2003, 2006-2010) is an Italian television channel. It is hosted by the public service broadcaster Rai and only broadcasts films alongside Rai 4 and Rai Premium .
Rai Movie sends mainly Italian films, as well as international film classics as well as lesser-known cinema productions.
In April 2019, the Rai management announced that Rai Movie and Rai Premium would be closed in favor of the newly formatted Rai 4 and Rai 6 channels, which will be aimed particularly at a male (Rai 4) and female (Rai 6) audience . The broadcasting of cinema films on the Rai channels should not be reduced overall by the closure of the feature film channels that are only moderately successful with the audience, but merely distributed differently.
