The Football Club Etzella Ettelbrück , better known under the abbreviations FC Etzella or Etzella Ettelbrück , is a Luxembourg football club from Ettelbrück .
history
The association was founded on May 21, 1917 had in 1940, during the occupation by Germany in football club Ettelbrück rename. In 1944 the club got its original name back. The first major success in the club's history was promotion to the national division in 1971 . Thirty years later, he won the Luxembourg Cup in 2001 .
The national cup victory resulted in a first appearance on the international stage. In 2001/02 the club played in the UEFA Cup . There they were eliminated in qualifying after two defeats against Legia Warsaw . In the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 2008 , the club surprisingly made it into the second round. After two draws against the Georgian representative Lokomotive Tbilisi , Etzella moved on because of the more away goals scored. In the following round, the Luxembourgers defied the Russian club Saturn Ramenskoje again a draw at home, but after a clear first leg defeat they had no chance of reaching the third round.
The club's home games have been played in the Stade du Center Sportif Um Deich since 1981 .
