history
The association was founded on August 14, 1936. In 1938 the club spent one season in Gruppa A , the then top division of the Soviet Union. The association originally belonged to the Georgian Railway . She is still the main sponsor of the association today. The club's home ground is owned by a railway and has the most modern sports facilities in the country.
Team coach is Amiran Minashvili. The team took part in the European Cup Winners' Cup for the first time in the 1999/2000 season .
